Works of Art I Know
Violet Persian Set with Red Lip Wraps Glass
Dale Chihuly
American
My first impressions:
I have no idea how Chihuly can create these really large sculptures. The intricate patterns and colors look like they have taken lots of time. I like how he purposely makes some areas opaque and others translucent to let the right amount of light seep in and reflect off.
What I have learned:
The dimensions of this sculpture are 76.3 x 66 x 63.5 cm. It is located in the Spencer museum of art in Lawrence, Kansas.

Works of Art I Know
Dress, Evening
French
1911
My first impressions:
I see a log of intricate sewing involved in this dress. The style looks a little more modern that the time period, so I wonder if there was a turning point in fashion at the time. Looking at the picture the fabric seems to have a paper-quality to it. The material must have been hard to sew with.
What I've learned:
This dress was donated to the Museum by Mrs. C. Phillip Miller in 1957. Its materials include silk, glass, and metal. It was made in Paris, France
